EY3 celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2022.  So what better time to look back at the history of the company…

  • 2002 EY3 Ltd is founded by Engineer (Kees Mense) and Fabricator (Colin Geary).  Both having spent long careers at Cosworth, it was time for them to put that experience into a new project for themselves. Early jobs included a beer pump for the set of TV show EastEnders.
  • 2003 Having initially worked from their garages at home, they secured the companies first premises in Cogenhoe. Working with Midland F3 in Germany, leading to further work with Midland F1.
  • 2004 Moved to Faraday court in Wellingborough. Customers now included Opel DTM, Mercedes-Ilmor, Ralliart, Microlights.
  • 2005 EY3 are building their first 2 Porsche 962 monocoque’s and parts with the help of consultant John Thompson
  • 2006 Design and manufacture of cricket nets roll away machanism. Part restoration of Brabham BT33 and Williams FW07 historic F1 cars.
  • 2007 Start of working relationship with Integral Powertrain for electric motor components and jig design and manufacture. BOMA off-road bike for Molten Rock Equipment.
  • 2008 Design and manufacture of Plenum pair for an LMP project.
  • 2009 FW07 Deltawing on behalf of Williams GP. Modifies the only Mclaren M25 to M23 specification. Re-manufacture of Chevron Sportscar Fuel Tanks.
  • 2010 Kees took over sole ownership of EY3 Ltd as Colin moved on to other things. Manufacture of pit equipment for a World Series by Renault Team.
  • 2012 Design and manufactures Beaters for Kenwood Chef.
  • 2013 Part restoration of Tyrell F1 car.
  • 2014 Part restoration of March F2, Theodore F1 and Intrepid GTP
  • 2015 Crash Structure and ducting for engine change on Honda BTCC car. Part restoration of Nissan Group C car.
  • 2016
    • Manufacture of intercoolers for JAS Motorsport.
    • EY3 Engineering Ltd is founded by Daniel Mense as a sister company to EY3 Ltd. Working on the NIO EP9 electric Hypercar, RCZ time attack car and CTCC Lamando.
  • 2017
    • Moved into our present home at Unit 1 Collets house.  Lots of work required renovating offices, toilets and installing a mezzanine.  Created a new stores, car build with 2-post lift, bodyshell jig plate in the fabrication shop and a machine shop with CNC milling and turning capabilities.
    • Shanghai Volkswagen 333 Racing Team won the 2017 CTCC (Chinese touring car championship) – EY3 Engineering’s first touring car design project.
    • Manufacture of a wind tunnel for aerodynamic testing of athlete’s clothing materials.
    • Engineering projects include bespoke damper blow-off valve for WTCC and work on an Audi TT for Macau.
  • 2018
    • EY3 are building another Porsche 962 monocoque and parts with the help of consultant John Thompson.
    • EY3 Engineering starts work with Haas F1 and is working on a big new touring car project…
  • 2019
    • TCR Thed Björk delivers the first pole and victory for the Lynk & Co 03 TCR on its debut weekend.  Its the first victory for an EY3 built bodyshell and for Geely the first FIA sanctioned win for a Chinese manufacturer.  Cyan Racing win the WTCR Teams, with Yvan Muller and Thed Björk P3 and P4 in the drivers championship.
    • BTCC West Surrey Racing win double 2019 BTCC (British Touring Car Championship) titles with the BMW 3-series (Manufacturers) and Colin Turkington (Drivers).  Also nominated for Autosport racing car of the year.  EY3 Engineering’s 3rd different touring car to take a pole and win on its debut, followed by championship honors in its first year!
  • 2020
    • TCR Yann Ehrlacher wins the 2020 WTCR (World Touring Car Championship) and Cyan Racing the Teams title with the Lynk & Co 03 TCR.  Ma Qing Hua and Shell Teamwork Lynk & Co Motorsport win the 2020 TCR China Championship and also the prestigious Macau Grand Prix.
    • BTCC West Surrey Racing win the 2020 BTCC Constructors Championship with the BMW 3-series.  Turkington P2 in the drivers championship and the Goodyear ‘wingfoot’ top qualifier award.
    • Other The GT3 inspired Naran Hyper Coupe is launched, with EY3 a key engineering partner for this project.
  • 2021
    • TCR Lynk & Co 03 TCR debut wins for MA:GP driver Mattias Andersson in the STCC (Swedish Touring Car Championship) and TCR South America with PMO Motorsport.  Triple 2021 TCR Asia championship winners; Lynk & Co (Manufacturer), Shell Teamwork Lynk & Co Racing (Team), Jason Zhang (Driver).  Second World Championship for Yann Ehrlacher in the 2021 WTCR and Cyan Racing the Teams title for the 3rd year with the Lynk & Co 03 TCR.
    • BTCC West Surrey Racing Team claimed their 6th straight BTCC manufacturers’ title with the BMW 330i M Sport BTCC and the Goodyear ‘wingfoot’ top qualifier prize.
    • Engineering WMC250EV electric landspeed motorbike is launched to the public, an innovative project EY3 has been working on for the past year.
    • Manufacture Start of working relation with Lunaz, manufacturing a range of electric car conversion parts.
  • 2022
    • TCR EY3 completes the build of our 22nd Lynk & Co 03 TCR bodyshell.  Wins in WTCR (Santiago Urrutia, Cyan Racing), STCC (Mattias Andersson, MA:GP).  Triple TCR Asia champions, drivers 1-2-3 (champion, David ZHU), model and teams (Shell Teamwork Lynk & Co Racing).  TCR South America drivers and teams champions (Fabricio Pezzini, PMO Motorsport).
    • BTCC First hybrid touring car win with the WSR BTCC 3-series hybrid.  Another debut race winner.  Jake Hill winning the Goodyear Wingfoot award for best qualifier, with teammate Colin in 2nd place.  The BMW 3-series took the manufacturers title for the 7th year in a row, with 9 wins in 2022.
    • Engineering Launch of the WMC300FR scooter, a hybrid 3-wheeled scooter for the Police, funded by the Niche Vehicle Network that EY3 Engineering has been working on this year.  Numerous award wins for this and also the WMC250EV.
    • Other Renovation of Ralt F3 Volkswagen monocoque.
